Con la presentaci\u00f3n de Jalape\u00f1o, su primer chip dise\u00f1ado a medida junto a Broadcom, la compa\u00f1\u00eda plant\u00f3 bandera en el territorio m\u00e1s disputado de la tecnolog\u00eda: el silicio sobre el que corre la IA. El chip es un procesador de inferencia, construido espec\u00edficamente para correr modelos de lenguaje m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido y m\u00e1s barato, con un despliegue inicial a escala de centros de datos previsto para finales de 2026. La industria lo ley\u00f3 por lo que es: un desaf\u00edo directo al dominio de Nvidia en el mercado de hardware de IA.<\/p>\n<p>El nombre es un gui\u00f1o, pero la estrategia es muy seria. Durante a\u00f1os, el auge de la IA ha sido, en la pr\u00e1ctica, un auge de Nvidia. Todos los grandes laboratorios, incluido OpenAI, han dependido de las GPU de Nvidia para entrenar y servir modelos, y esa dependencia ha convertido a Nvidia en una de las empresas m\u00e1s valiosas del mundo mientras aprieta a todos los dem\u00e1s en costo y suministro. Un chip optimizado para empujar tokens a trav\u00e9s de un modelo de forma m\u00e1s eficiente ataca justo el costo que crece m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido. Asociarse con Broadcom, que tiene amplia experiencia dise\u00f1ando chips a medida para hyperscalers, le permite a OpenAI moverse m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido de lo que podr\u00eda armando un equipo de silicio desde cero.<\/p>\n<p>La alianza con Broadcom tambi\u00e9n repite un camino que otros gigantes ya recorrieron. Google tiene sus TPU, Amazon tiene Trainium e Inferentia, y Broadcom ha sido discretamente el socio de dise\u00f1o detr\u00e1s de varios de esos esfuerzos. Que OpenAI se sume a ese club indica que controlar al menos parte de tu stack de hardware se est\u00e1 volviendo un requisito m\u00ednimo para cualquiera que opere a escala de frontera.
